Changes to the Community Grant Program in 2020
Lethbridge County has made some changes to the Community Grant Program.
At the February 20, 2020 Council meeting, the decision was made to rescind Community Grant Policy #176, which provided funds to various community organizations through an application and award process. Council and administration felt that the existing policy did not allow for funding distribution in the most effective and efficient manner for organizations and the County’s budget. As such, the County will no longer offer the community-wide grant program.
In place of the Community Grant Program, Council has decided to instead distribute $10,000 in 2020 to each of the seven community associations in Lethbridge County, as well as the Prairie Tractor & Engine Museum/Coyote Flats Pioneer Village. The community associations are located throughout the County and include McNally, Readymade, Diamond City, Shaughnessy, Turin, Monarch, and Sundial. These organizations provide sporting, social, cultural, and recreational activities for County residents and this funding will allow them to continue operating in a way that supports the broader community.
Community organizations will still have the opportunity to request donations from Lethbridge County according to Donations Policy #161.
