While it may be convenient to flush unwanted items and trash down your toilet or drain, it can result in clogs to your system, or even bigger problems down the line which are costly!

Please refrain from putting non-biodegradable items into your sinks, toilets, and stormwater drains.

Items that should not be flushed or washed down the drain include:

  • wipes (even if they say “flushable”)
  • towels
  • rubber gloves
  • diapers
  • hygiene products (tampons/applicators/sanitary napkins)
  • household hazardous waste items (bleach, paint, solvents, motor oil, pesticides, etc.)
  • fats, grease, butter, cooking oil, lard, etc.
  • and any other items that are not biodegradable

These items do not easily or immediately break down and cause the pipes to clog or can harm the good bacteria in the County's wastewater system.  This is damaging to the sewer system and increases maintenance costs as staff must spend time unclogging the system so it can function normally.

To apply for water/sewer services, or to disconnect a current service, please contact the Utilities Clerk at 403-328-5525 or send an e-mail.
